Marquês Garden House

The Marquês Garden House is a Singular House located in one of the oldest squares in the city, Praça Marquês de Pombal. The Guest House’s facade is filled from top to bottom with rectangular tiles typical of Porto in the 17th century. XIX.

Upon entering, you will find ceilings worked in noble wood, friezes of vegetal tiles by Bordalo Pinheiro, stone walls and an imposing staircase, decorated with a child bust by Soares dos Reis, the great sculptor of Porto.

Praça do Marquês was once one of the most emblematic and bustling areas of the noble city of Porto. Over the centuries, it has had different names, an example of which is Praça da Água, having also been a trading area, cultivation of agricultural land, passage of troops during the Siege of Porto.

When staying at Marquês Garden House, you will find a garden hidden by the high facade of the building. The old walls surround a rest area, providing relaxed leisure hours in the sun, and you can even enjoy the pool on hot days. A true gem in the center of the city.

Rooms
All rooms at Marquês Garden House are spacious and have generous ceiling height, very comfortable beds and a welcoming atmosphere.

The space conveys a sense of well-being, with vintage details winning guests over as soon as they enter.

In the remodeling of the buildings, all the old features that differentiate them were maintained. Highlights include the carved ceilings, the solid wood doors, the arches and wall panels, the old fireplaces (now deactivated) and the wooden floors.
Every detail has been thought through and proof of this is the maximum use of natural light, with skylights in every possible bathroom. The different bathrooms respect the historic atmosphere, but offer all the modern amenities that guests are looking for.

The Marquês Garden House consists of 16 rooms, in which each type has unique aspects that distinguish them from one another, so no two rooms are alike. We have rooms overlooking the garden and others overlooking the historic square.

We therefore invite you to spend a few days in this Singular House full of history!

“Beautiful setting in a peaceful location. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Nothing was missing. A wonderful historic building with many details that are simply worth seeing with a modern style and a loving team that took care of everything. The pool was the highlight for our daughter and is great for cooling off. Metro and bus connections are nearby and offer fast transport for little money and you can easily get to many things. It is worth visiting Porto at the Hotel Olivia Marquês.”
